Wolf Moon: Legend has it that Romulus and Remus, the two founding brothers of Rome, were raised and suckled by a she-wolf. In Norse mythology, the Wolf is a symbol for victory when ridden by Odin and the Valkyries upon the battlefield. According to Celtic tradition, Wolf represents learning, loyalty, intuition, and the shadow. He teaches people to feel strength and power of self when alone and to learn about the deepest self by imparting spiritual assistance and courage. Wolf also symbolizes cunning, wisdom, searching, dreams, a source of lunar power, magick, intuition, transformation, death and rebirth, intuition, and protection. In Asia, the wolf guards the doors to heavenly, celestial realms. The Wolf is also said to be among the ancestry of Genghis Khan. In the stars, Wolf is represented by the dog constelation Sirius located in the Pleadies, thought by many aboriginal tribes to be the home of the "Ancients." Wolf has come to be associated with ancient teachings. They have been long considered teachers or pathfinders by the First Nations people. The lessons wolf teaches are not always easy, but nevertheless necessary. Wolves are held in very high esteem, used as totems and representative of clans. They are truly free spirits even though their packs are highly organized. Traditionally, someone with "Wolf Medicine" has a strong sense of self and communicates well. Among the various peoples and tribes of North America, wolf represents not only creation but also death and rebirth. Wolf is a symbol of guardianship, ritual, loyalty, and free spirit.
